How Do Dissolved Oxygen Concentrations in Livewells Affect Bonefish (Albula vulpes) Behavior?
The Island School
ABSTRACT:
Student Authors: Hadley Dawson, Chris Finkernagel, Iris Rayburn, Olivia Rich, Ted Thompson, & Alannah Vellacott. Advisor: Aaron Shultz. The purpose of the study was to investigate how low and high dissolved oxygen (D.O.) concentrations affect bonefish behavior. We hypothesize that bonefish exposed to hypoxic water (low D.O.) will decrease movement and increase ventilation rates while bonefish in hyperoxic water (high D.O.) will exhibit the opposite behaviors.
